About

From Bath to Hong Kong

Hello all! I'm Vicki — a seasoned tutor, teacher and educational project co-ordinator working across primary to higher education. I bring 9 years of experience in education, a First-Class Languages Degree from the University of Bath, and am currently working towards a PGCE in MFL at the University of Sheffield.

Since graduating in July 2020, I joined a graduate scheme for a Not-for-Profit Educational Foundation in Hong Kong, before moving to a Lycée in Alsace to support French Baccalauréat students across Business, Commerce, Laboratory English and Academic writing on Literature and Poetry. I then worked in French-speaking Martinique, offering EFL support, cultural workshops and mentoring to Brevet students in a challenging Collège environment. Most recently, as a Project Co-ordinator at the IVE Vocational Training Council of Hong Kong, I delivered tailored vocational English training, exam and assignment tuition, educational resources and cultural events — with a special focus on integrating AI and VR in education.

Over the last 9 years I've worked with a wide range of students, primarily at GCSE and A-Level, including pupils on the National Tutoring Programme — a British Government initiative delivered via MyTutor to support disadvantaged learners. Every summer I celebrate fantastic results and university places with my students: my private students have never received less than a B at A-Level or an 8 at GCSE, with some improving by more than three grades in just three months.

Internationally, I've taught students of the French Baccalauréat, Hong Kong DSE and independent clients in China, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and partnered with private language schools on Military English and Business English.

Last September I returned to the UK to complete my PGCE at the University of Sheffield, working with GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level MFL students on academic skills and emotionally honest learning spaces through English, French and Russian. The rigorous training of the PGCE saw me follow 60 credits at Masters Level in Education and Pedagogy, 2 full placements in contrasting environments, Clifton Community School in Rotherham and Bolton Boys School in Bolton as well as three micro placements, 2 in Primary Schools and 1 in Sixth Form College.

Learning with Vicki is a professional, personable and experienced service. Student involvement and technique variation sit at the heart of my lessons — I encourage learners to think outside the box, and aim to deliver tuition that's interesting, effective and genuinely empowering. Every student is different, so I create uniquely personalised learning experiences for each one. If you have specific learning needs, just let me know — together we'll build a trusting and enjoyable working relationship.
